Show state county planning Is discussed at annual leadership convention convention at the close of the annual adult leaders training school which was held at the utah state aarl agricultural college from november 28 to december 9 a comprehensive report was made by the committee ou on county planning essentials F following Ol lowIng ore are some of the major points in the report we commend the splendid inventories ven tories presented by some of the planning boards and recommend that fill all counties complete their inventories ven tories so as to present to the county and state a true irue picture of each county and through these inventories a p picture of the actual conditions and resources of the state as a whole it will require the closest cooperation of the county planning boards with other locale local state and federal agencies to put over our problems the extension service of the agricultural college offers one sources of help delp lo 10 to plan planning boards the county agents and home demonstrators have perhaps the best beat understanding of county problems they are well trained and their closeness to agriculture makes them realistic and sympathetic with agricultural problems inasmuch as tery vital problems confront our state and notion nation we deem it ajl advisable sable that every eiery possible effort be put forth to in acquaint the local public with the necessity of making a complete analysis of these problems and also albo of putting butting forth every effort to alad bjorne some solution that Is i considering these problems some of them will be to the various barlous cou counties niles ahll others rio are statewide state wide in their land and nature and should be so bon con of 0 the latter class we beg leave to recommend the following inasmuch as water is a vital factor in utah and we believe that we now Irrig irrigate lite only one half of the land in the state suitable for irrigation and much of the land now irrigated has an insufficient water supply we urge that even evea greaber greater effort be put forth in the future td perfect and protect our water supply so as aa to develop and conserve au all our water facilities we are convinced that noxious weeds have hae such sacha a strong foothold in our state as to require the concerted effort of our counties state and nation to control and eradicate the same we recommend recommend that suitable legislation to handle this problem le 10 enacted farm income depends very cry materially anthe on the livestock industry of the state we commend the development of af thi the poultry feeal ngi and dairy industries and recommend a continuation of planning and ami action along these lines we also urge most careful consideration of our range problems in order to protect and preserve our ranges we suggest a fuller coop oration of the forest service the fhe public domain and braziers gra graz lers that these industries might be more completely stabilized we recognize and appreciate the work on health surl surveys ays eys made in the past and to recommend commend that county health committees bring their inventories up to dite date and with this information in mind study the new agen agencies cles which can offer health insurance at a price low enough that everyone can have adequate care we urge that full utilization be made of 0 all elc ex asting agencies offering assistance in health program we recommend that every precaution be taken in the home on the farm and in the general conduct of our lives to avoid every condition hazardous to the health and safety of family members rad and to this end recommend a campaign in the state to mouse arouse peoples consciousness to the dangers before us one great handicap is lack of income not a little of this Is due to poor inar marketing conditions the space between the producer and co consumer Is too great the farmer Is entitled to a fair share of tile the consumers dollar we feel that better methods of marketing should be instigated we lye need organized effort to put standard products ou on as broad a market as can be had we view ies with ith concern the rapidly increasing indebtedness in the state and ami are conscious cun of the inevitable results it if not curtailed we also realize the rapid increase in III installment buying and the misuse of credit tor for consumption rather than production are a serious ine menace rince to the economical welfare of the state I 1 we are graduating thousands from our high school and colleges 1 each ach year many of these young people find few places to go to make a livelihood hi ell hood mot moa common gainful pursuits being already tilled filled to capacity there are no longor longer lands on oil which they can make homes youth ling has lalta faith and bourage arid wants to work and be independent it is up to us to face this problem squarely these young lv people ople must have hae an opportunity their morals must not be blasted 1 continued on last page planning discussed disc U ased at annual meiti meeting ng continued from page 1 we must find a solution or our whole economic structure Is in danger we tion projects ts now under underway derway way in the state been continued and that campaigns be inaus rated to ito call attea attention tIon to the unsanitary sani iary unsightly conditions existing around rural homes ind highways I 1 in III conclusion we plan oca on a do detailed knowle knowledge dige of things as they are we are educating ourselves to readjust readjustment meni there never was
