Show doe deer permits to be sold this fall aiming at an annual harvest of deer in utah the state board of big game control has authorized removal of female deer this fall according to chairman ross leonard this means that permits will be issued to about 16 per cent fewer doe hunters in 1945 than in 1944 and approximately 56 per cent less than in 1942 the proclamation containing the boards regulations for special hunts and doe removal will be issued next month the boards action is believed to be the most representative in its history because of the fact it was based largely on the recommendations of the interagency inter agency big game committee and the findings from five sectional meetings held by the board of big game control and attended tendel at by the publicly pub public licIn ln various parts of the state as required ired ar by latest legisla gislar le tive live action 1 all postseason post season hunts will be confined to december 1 to 10 in order to correct an over grazed condition and to lessen trespass on agricultural crops crops more balanced distribution both 01 hunters and herds will be served by the 1945 regulations the board believes in the past the fish lake units have had a concentration of both deer and hunters a situation which is steadily being remedied by making new areas accessible encouraging cou raging sportsmen to try less hunted but fully as attractive areas and maintaining herds at the carrying capacity of the range general basis for the reduction in in doe kill is the definite improvement in range carrying capacity reported ba by the interagency inter agency committee several entirely new areas will be opened to doe hunters this fall where as as hunting of hornless deer will be drastically reduced or entirely eliminated in some past hunted sections mr leonard said successful carrying out of the long range program so intelligently li by the big game board and it its advisors advisers is going to require the full cooperation of the general public the chairman declared |
