Show TWO IRON COUNTY MEN CALLED IN IM JULY DRAFT clifford lewis of par owan and max sargent dalley of summit are arc the two men called from iron county to fill the selective service quota from the county for the first july draft brait darrell C and dan both of cedar city were selected at alternates and dalley dailey will report at the local board office in cedar city at 7 a m on july ath and will leave immediately aLL erward fot foi the induction center ce riter in salt lake city to enter the service clifford is the second son of mr and mrs 6 C to be called into the army his brother milo C Mort ensin being the first man to be called from the county and he is now stationed at fort lewis washington max is the son of mr john E dalley dailey of summit and for the pat past several years has been a teacher in the parowan carowan elementary school lie ho recently returned from a year s stu 1 dy at the BYU on a sabbati sabbatical cl fl leave from the iron county school district more fish planted in yankee reservoir about more fish were released in the reservoir leser voir this afternoon by bill of thi the glenwood hatchery and claude macfarlane deputy game warden the fish averaged 7 inches in length beng being considerably larger than the ones planted there three weeks ago the fish came from the state hatchery at beaver with one or two more loads expected to be planted in the reservoir and in tho tha s streams in parowan carowan canyon on saturday one cf the two loads to be delivered on saturday will be fish ranging in length from about 10 to 18 inches and the second will be legal size fish the larger ones are in male ale fish culled from the spawn ers 11 at the hatchery fishing in this locality was generally poor during last week very few fish being reported taken front from the yankee paragonah Para gonah reservoir panguitch lake mammoth creek or duck creek and none from nava jo 0 lake reports from Hendrick sens lake in parowan carowan canyon was somewhat encouraging several reporting taking fish there during the week though no large catches were among them those taken were said to weigh train from one to L a four pounds and to be in very good condition roads over the top are still clos ed from the parowan carowan side a large slide on the road at the top of the second lett left hand canyon or a distance of about 75 yards and many large snow banks make travel over that road impossible forest service I 1 equipment is no now w available to open the road but due to a brea breakdown I 1 with some of the heavy equipment workers been been able to open the road yet work is expected to be finished about wednesday when the road will be opened except for mud d main canyon is still closed from the head of bear flat to the head ot of the mammoth with many deep drifts blocking the road report from men who are chopping timber in that area are that drifts in the timber are still from four to six feet deep clair lowder who is employed by E ray lyman in that area reports water in the bear flat creek to be higher than he can ever remember only in flood times he said you have to look for a place to dross cross the creek now you cant can t just jump across anywhere |
