Show MUST PROTECT RIGHTS EIGHTS one of t he big problems that will confront the utah state legislature which convenes con venea next monday is that ot of protecting this states lights i in the waters 0 of the colorado Col colorado river with the recent fassl passing ot of tile the so called boulder dam bill which can not become effective until eitler either utah or arizona ral ratifies lidies the six or the seven state pact the determined tight fight which has been waged in washington tor for several years will without doubt be shifted to utah powerful Rower Fow erful tul lobbies will no doubt be bet up in our state capital and they will make herculean effort to procure by lair fair means means or toul ratification at this session ot of the legislature of the six state pact ahe I 1 he people ot of utah however look to our legislature to protect our rights to be absolutely certain we are protected before they ratify As a state we have little or nothing to gain by the construction of the boulder dam but we have much to loseby lose by its construction if 1 we tail fail to guard zealously our rights what it is all about what it meins means to utah this protecting our rights is not so apparent to those it bt us who live on this side ot of the ange tut it requires only a trip in to the uintah basin tor for one to appreciate preci ate the significance of it all thousands and thousands of acres ot of fertile land in that basin and elsewhere on that side of the range will some day be developed into productive farms and prosperous cities adding millions and anif millions lions I 1 in wealth to the state it the water is now running through them and into the colorado is not lost to us it our rights to that water are frittered fritt ered away however those areas are doomed to remain forever sagebrush wastes or bp aren desert destra only why utah is IF concerned prom from this county and this senatorial district we havi have sent men of judgment and integrity to represent us in the legislature men who will not be influenced by lobby hobbyists lobbyists lats we have no thought but that they w will III go thoroughly into any proposition which might jeopardize any of our rights it other senators and other representatives do likewise the outcome will be right otherwise we shall expect to see senator marsden ands and representative woodbury on the battle front in the tight fight to retain our colorado river rights |
