Show DOINGS AT SCHOOL a reported Ke ported by the school NEW TENNIS COURT COUET AT HIGH SCHOOL the students and teachers of the P H S have been interested in the progress of a new tennis court which has been constructed northeast north narth east of the school building the work has been done under the supervision of mr air N E brown and through the efforts of the students tennis Is probably one of the most well known games of 0 the world it started in england as a sort of a handball and was immediately taken up by the french difo introduced the use of the tennis racket for striking the ball it has developed now until it Is played in practically every country france australia and the V U S are probably among the best known tennis playing nations tennis Is a game that can be played by all people it is not limited to any group or age while it la Is not sa a strenuous as basket ball it exercises the muscles of the arms legs and back and develops the power for or quick thinking and quick action it Is especially good tor for the business busl cess man because it demands complete concentration of 0 the mind on tho the game it Is next to swimming the best all around exercise known the tennis court was made possible at the school by the senior class gitt gift of 0 the class of 0 1927 the students of the P H S would be glad to have the people ot of paro wan visit the new court and try their skill at the game the court will be open for public use on week weak days any time before a 3 p in and nt at any time on oil saturdays sundays or holidays 11 monday monlong mr air hatch visited tho the high school classes and introduced the following regulations as a part of school policy L 1 no na student will be admitted to class after the second bell without an excuse from home for tardiness 2 no student will be admitted to class after an absence without an excuse from home stating reasons tor for absence 3 no student will be granted leave of absence during the day without a note of request from parents the teachers would be glad to have tho the parents cooie cooperate rate in the ad ministration of these regulations principal A C hatch presided over a very interesting program in the j H S friday afternoon november 23 the following numbers were enjoyed by the students and people of 0 the town orchestra select selections selection lon P 11 II S orchestra two vocal solos mrs airs it L fentron Fen vocal duet phyllls phyllis and retta orton CAST CHOSEN FOR FOB HIGH SCHOOL PLAY tryouts tor for the school play we are seven by elenor gates were held eld tuesday november 20 those chosen for parts are peter eldon smith Dl diantha aritha phyllis phyllia orton aunty aulty florence decker colonel avory avery ross hyatt dr grant beatrice adams philip dean mithell henry howard adams thad nelson fenton sam ivan orton lt sheehan ory orr heap farley elmo mo stensen devol richard demille percy devol nelson fenton maid lona iona lund builer butlar lagrand robb this play will be presented dec 14 the cast la is borki working n g hard to make the performance one of the best that has been put on by the P II 11 S last friday nov 23 the faculty basketball basket ball team met defeat at the hands of the sophomore team the game was hard and fast with a large score on neither side during the first halt half it looked as it if the faculty might take the game but during the second halt half the sophomore team dd some excellent playing which brought them vc victory tory the game ended with a score ot of 12 to 10 friday night november 23 the sophomore closs of the P H S entertained the public at an apron and overall dance the music was furnished by ston orchestra A mf good time was had by all and it proved both entertaining and financially successful tuesday november 20 the P H S was visited by state high school inspector mr air williamson WiH Jamson and superintendent erin barlow the parowan carowan high school orches tra ra furnished the music at the community play kick in played recen aly at the new L D S recreation hall they also took a prominent part in the relief society food sale monday night of this week mr air TI engar Ingar as head of the music department has organized a very good orchestra this year the members era ale aio progressing rapidly in their work and we are justly proud of them tile the P H B S barkev basketball basket ball five won a ai 22 to 11 victory from the town I 1 boys november 22 the high school presented a strong team and an able abis clorer in Morten who ho nl made de su practically all tile the PC points I 1 nt tor for the i school i |
