Show ilder elder mitchell sends gree greetings bi gs to home folks brooklyn new york gates ave october 10 1927 editor the times I 1 used to hope that someday I 1 could find time to write some sort eort of a story once in a while and send to you but since that seems impossible the thought occurred to me as I 1 awoke bright and early this morning that I 1 might at taut least send greetings home on OD the first anniversary ol of my absence indeed it Is just one year at this morning since I 1 set out to complete a two years mission in the east how time dragged tor for a lew few months then than I 1 caught the spirit ot of things and since ethen then time has literally flown so tar far my time has all been spent in the brooklyn Di district first I 1 was in now new york city three months then in brooklyn and then spent three months in jersey Cit city yand and hoboken new jersey at the present time I 1 am located back at journal square jersey city As Is the custom of the mission the elders spent three and a halt months montha in the country districts last summer this lla ila a very enjoyable part of missionary work although at times it seems quite a teal aside country work I 1 have availed myself of several opportune was to travel and have seen quite a bit of the eastern states and canada three weeks ago at the celebration of the hundredth anniversary of the book of mormon at the hill comorah near palmyra new york I 1 met reed durham rather unexpectedly although I 1 had known that he was working as a missionary in canada and that the canadian elders were expected to attend the celebration it was a delightful surprise to see eee him reed looks very well and from reports la is one of the very cry best missionaries in the field he asked me to send his greetings to the people of parowan carowan when I 1 wrote he la Is now stationed in tar far ott oft brunswick and says he woul dilt trade places with anyone I 1 have counted myself as very tor for dunate that the mission president saw fit to leave me in the same district with milo marsden and was quite pleased that we were together often during the last eleven months of his service six months of that time I 1 1 worked under elder marsden while ho be presided over the brooklyn district but the sad part of most ev every cry pleasent is that it only too soon boon ends I 1 confess that it seems very lonesome here now without Aillo parowan carowan was pretty well represented while he and we his brother jim were il ft the east X t am loathe to believe that allio could have been any more happy to see gee his parents when they came here to meet him than I 1 was they surely seemed like my very own people on two or three occasions they invited incited me out them and even though their visit was short it has been about the brightest lew few days ive spent naturally I 1 am enjoying life and tako take anything for or the experiences perien ces jm im having baying true at tames the way looks uphill up hill
