Show OUR CAMP GROUND 11 inspection of our camp berday resulting from some ver ui lavo rable comment relative co cc editions there reveals some alarin alami ingle unsatisfactory conditions about the grounds and the old church building adjoining same themselves hem hern selves have not been too particular about their garbage boutwe but we who live in this community and we ve alone are responsible for the he conditions which exist there hive have never been any garbage placed on the grounds nor any requesting that they be used is only one toilet without any vault and otherwise in a very unsanitary condition the windows have all been broken out of the old church the basement rooms are full of all sorts of dirt and litter and have been used for toilet purposes poses and t the he entire surroundings can not but make a very unfavorable impression on people who camp there it is nothing short of disgraceful for us to let them get into such condition particularly when so small an outlay would make them otherwise the city has teen loath to do very much because of the fact that they have no title to the ground or even a lease to project protect them in an any y improve merti ments they may make but the they would at I 1 a t be justified in keeping the place sanitary until some definite arrangement can le made it had been planned to build some home rooms there and in fact there w was a committee appointed to arrange for their construct construction i on about a year ago but as winter was so near it was thought best to de defer fer action until spring when spring came the canyon road was started and the council or membris of it at least as well as the mayor thought best to expend some money on that rather than on rest rooms for this year I 1 nd that accounts for our hav in inadequate accommodations for campers at this time there should be however as soon as possible a nice little building erected on the ground combining restrooms rest room roomi for both sexes with two or three rooms in which a caretaker and his family might live the fact thit some lome one lived there even though he did nothing toward keeping up the grounds would have a good effect tourists could be given information by them relative to our scenic attractions etc there would be less danger of their being dis and of the conveniences placed there for them being destroyed or n uti and there would b numerous other advantages in having someone live right there on th grounds it would not cost anything to have some one live there if such a building is erected they would be glad to get such a place to sive lent whatever ih ib to be done in the future however there must be immediate action by someone to have the grounds cleaned up and placed I 1 in a inure sanitary condition uther we all the advertis advertising iu ve w c can do relative r tj ti t i benic scenic attractions camp grounds etc will avail us nothing |
