Show I I Biggest Bi est Fair The 1970 Davis County Fair was the biggest and best ever everin everin everin I in all County Fair history BETTER than residents resi residents resi- resi I dents of Davis County and the surrounding areas saw the fair The fair was rightfully named A Family A Fair as it was participated in by young and old alike The large Lagoon La La- Lagoon I goon and Fair Ground parking 1 lots were full all three days tl 4 IT WOULD have been impossible impossible impossible sible to pick out an any one part of the 20 classifications and their many sub-heads sub of exhibits exhibits exhibits ex ex- ex- ex hibits contests with the many entrees in the three day program program pro pro- program gram as being the best Friday was particularly a big bigday bigday bigday day for the Senior Citizens for forthe forthe the Aging of Davis Co County ty residents residents residents resi resi- dents and was attended by of Davis County Senior Ci Citizens Citi Citi- i- i zen zens THERE WAS a luncheon at noon and a program followed by the fair events for Cor the balance balance balance bal bal- bal bal- ance of the day Three D Davis vis County florists presented floral foral flor for al pieces for the luncheon The Davis County Banks presented presented pre pre- 5 to each of the contestants contestants contestants con con- to the different winners winners win win- ners in the contests BETSY Davis from Kaysville won the oldest age prize being 96 years young Ben Martinez the largest family with a family fam fam- ily of 17 Amy Brown Bountiful the most grandchildren with a total of 60 Mr and Mrs Wil- Wil lard Carr took the prize for forthe forthe forthe the longest married couple with 65 years to their credit Minnie Bishop Kaysville won the prize for the longest resident resident resident resi- resi dent of 89 years in Davis County and Mildred Condie won the shortest resident prize of being a citizen for only two months The Ibe Davis Count County Floral 1 Show had the theme this year of f I I ITHE Natures Dividend THE BARNYARD ARD exhibit which was a new event intended intend intend- ed for Cor the children drew crowds of children and parents as well The Hers 4 were well represented represented in their many different endeavors under the supervision supervision supervision super super- vision of Darrel Stokes and I Lloyd Smith County County- Agents and Dorothy Hansen home economist i iTHE THE horse races the rodeos the animals and judging contests drew overflow crowds to all events This years year's fair had more commercial commercial commercial com- com j mercial exhibitors than ever before beCore with larger and better displays ALL EXHIBITS were well attended attended attended at at- tended with overflow crowds and the greatest displays Approximately Approximately Ap- Ap proximately was distributed distributed distributed in prize money Commissioner Stanley M.
