Show Society Seeking Old SLC Directories Donations of old Salt Lake City directories are being sought by the Utah State Historical Society Library. The directories are needed to complete a historical Study and survey of Salt Lake's west side. "Every building between - 1000 North and-900 Sduth and 200 east and 900 West in Salt Lake City will be researched to determine its original owner and its historical significance," said John McCormick, historian for the Utah State Historical Society. "Without old city directories, it will be imposs-ibe imposs-ibe to accurately trace each building's ownership over the years," he added. Persons with access to old Salt Lake City directories are asked to contact Linda Thatcher at the Utah State Historical Society Library, 533-5808. Directories for the years between 1897 and 1930 are particularly needed. The Utah State Historical Society Library is open to the general public six days a week. Located at 307 West 200 South, in Salt Lake City, the Library's hours are: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. -2 p.m. |
