Show Park City Thespians Do Well at Meet --Svv , . . . .Jt. . . :, , v- " . . 5 r --n y t:x v V . Kelly Utley, Brenda Bensch, and Gavin Packard. Renee Farwig received a Superior rating in Pantomime and an excellent rating went to Colleen Burns in the same category. In Humorous Reading category Kerri Gunderson and Susan Mann both received excellent ratings. Tony Magozstovics and Paula ' Putman performed in Scenes from plays category and were awarded a superior rating. Also in scenes from plays, Shelly Stover, Susan Byer, and Janet Allborty received an excellent rating. Mike Jarvis, Kim Weaver, and Sonya Ratcliff received an excellent rating as well. In retold story Marty Wright and Seaton Prince impressed the judges and were given excellent ratings while Kirk Dearden received a good rating. John Newland also received a good rating in Dramatic Reading competition. Drama coach Brenda Bensch was obviously pleased with Park City's impressive performance at the state drama meet. "Next year, we'll take state," smiled Brenda. Park City High School student Kelly Utley was named "Best Actress" following a two-day state drama meet held at Weber State College Friday and Saturday. Satur-day. Park City finished the meet only seven points behind the . winning school, Dugway, and tied for third place with Altamont. The talented Park High team received the only Superior rating at the meet, competing with 1-A and 2-A schools, int he one-act play category. The play, entitled "Lovers: Winners," was presented presen-ted by Gavin Packard and Kelly Utley. Park City received a trophy for "Lovers: Winners" as did Kelly Utley for being Besf Actress at the meet. Kelly Utley also received a one year tuition scholarship to Weber State for being named Best Actress. Dugway, with 59 points came in first place while St. Joseph finished in second place with 54 points. Park City and Altamont both had 52 points for third place. Final standings are based on a rating system in which school teams receive points during various categories of competition. In the mono-act class, Wess Jolley, David Sargeant and Connie Hamilton received excellent excel-lent ratings from the judges. |
