Show Famous Salt Lake Sculptor Born and Raised in Park Despite the early hour (8 a.m.) hundreds of Salt Lake residents gathered to view the unveiling of the eight-foot bronze statue donated don-ated to the church by the National Society of the Sons of Utah Pioneers, at the gravesite of Brigham Young at 140-lst Ave. The statue whose theme is All is Well" was done by Edward J.Fraughton the noted not-ed Salt Lake sculptor (born and raised in Park City) who also did the Mormon Battalion Bat-talion Soldier on display in San Diego, Calif. The new family statue de- Western land a century after his death,' as stated by Governor Gov-ernor Rampton. Of the 600,000 Mormon Pioneer immigrants who crossed the plains between 1847 and 1869, 3,000 traveled to these mountains by handcartabout hand-cartabout 250 of them died on the trail. Such a beautiful monument depicting the. unified loving family which is sculptered and preserved here, thus upholding up-holding the ideals of the family fam-ily and home especially to us today. The three faces show optimism, determination determin-ation and love, as if to say "despite death and hardship we have been blessed by a gracious Father in Heaven and have arrived in a new land of hope and opportunity. With faith and work, together togeth-er as a family we can succeed suc-ceed and make the desert blossom."
