Ski race starts Saturday at 10 a.m. Saturday at Park City Skiers Wait Tribune Classic A civil war the north against the south is about to erupt at Park City. The clash will be touched off Saturday at 10 a.m. when The Salt Lake Tribune presents pre-sents its annual Ski Classic. The HmraamenL is the only one of Ihe racing season that pits the junior -skiers from the northern portion of the lnter-mountain lnter-mountain Division of the U.S. Ski Assn. against the southern skiers in all categories. That means the battle lines will be drawn with Sun Valley, Val-ley, Jackson, Idaho Falls, Po-calello, Po-calello, Grand Targhee, and Pinedale on one side and Alra, Snowbird, Snow Basin, Beaver Bea-ver Mountain, Park City, Park City West, Brian Head, Sundance Sun-dance and Ogden on the other. Competition will be in the Expert, Intermediate, Novice, Expert B and PeeWee classes. In addition, coaches from' the various areas which have skiers competing will battle in their own race, the Coaches' Classic. Tribune trophies will be awarded right after i.he races. Skiers finishing in the first three places in their respective respec-tive classes will receive the coveted awards. Invitations were mailed to skiers who, according to In-termountain In-termountain Division records, finished hish in all giant slalom sla-lom races during the racing season. Coaches and skiers were reminded re-minded Monday that Wednesday Wednes-day noon is entry deadline. Entries should be in The Tribune Trib-une Library by that time to allow race officials time to make up the racing order. The Tribune Library is in room 212 of The Tribune Bldg., 143 S. Main, and is open daily from 9 a.m. to midnight. |
