Show We Get Letters Fire Chief Suggests No Helpers Really Needed on Ambulance Park City, Utah March 20, 1972 Editor The Park Record Park City, Utah. Your issue of the Park Record, dated Mar. 16, 1970, under the heading "Ambulance Service needs more Helpers" must need some clarification. We, of the Park City Fire Dept. would like to set the issue straight, as to our stand on this service. It has been brought to our attention, that Councilman Leh-mer Leh-mer brought up the matter in a recent meeting. We hope she is not under-estimating the service we have been able to render to this community and people from outside. We have been able to fully man both ambulances when required either night or day and feel that if help is needed in any way it can be obtained very easily. On Feb. 1, 1969, when the first ambulance was turned over to us by Summit County, it was with complete agreement of all parties concerned, that the membership of the Park City Fire Dept. assume complete control of this service and run it as they see best to do so. Since too many bosses serve to confuse the service, the Chief of the Fire Dept. will head the ambulance service and we are accountable to no one but ourselves our-selves for its operation. May we continue to feel that if any one, having suggestions or anything of a constructive matter mat-ter to add to this service, contact the members of the Fire Dept. for the best results, rather than take it upon themselves them-selves to say what or who is needed to help carry on. After more than 300 calls we are pretty well able to handle the situation. It may be well to remember that this service is on a "no pay" basis and all fees that are collected are returned to the service in new equipment and service of a near professional profes-sional kind. If by chance any one person or group feels they may be able to do a better job than at present, contact us. If not, we will try to render the same service as in the past, with the original agreement in effect. Respectfully submitted, Tom Sullivan, Chief Park City Fire Dept. |
