Show Parent Teachers Association Sponsors "Back to School" Night; Merchants Get Deserved Thanks Park City High School's last home game of the 1972 football season. Kelly Gee. and Mike Watts, stopped the Braves several times. Offensively, the Miners looked look-ed more alive than usual, racking rack-ing up yardage by end runs and passes. But Park High's drives for scores were nullified by lost fumbles and the aggravating North Summit defense. The only score of the game came during the second quarter when North Summit sustained a 40-yard drive, enabling them to score from two yards out. The Miners held the Braves on goal line stands eight times before North Summit could score. Park High had good defensive work from Rick Sorenson, Gregg Goff, Mike Watts, Bert Murnin, and Mark Offret. This win by North Summit put the Braves in front of Region Re-gion Nine and assured tham a semi-final playoff game. Park High can still get into a quarter final playoff game if the Miners can beat Dugway and South Summit. Park City will play their last home game against Dugway on Friday, October 20. It is hoped that everyone can come see trative Assistant, Receptionist, Cashier, Posting and Tax Clerk and Insurance Clerk. Thursday, October 5, the Parents Teachers Association had a "Back to School" night for parents. The io::.w ; this activity was to let the parents meet the teachers and to find out what their children are doing in school. First of all there was a fifteen fif-teen minute general assembly in the auditorium after which the parents went through a regular reg-ular class schedule with each period being ten minutes long. After the classes were over, refreshments were served! Christine Kummer. -PCHS- Students Absent Back to School night for parents par-ents was a big success. Now what is needed is a Back to School day for students. It seems that more than fifteen fif-teen percent of the students are absent each day. This makes some of the teachers happy because with all the new students, if everyone came to school there wouldn't be enough desks. Undaunted, the teachers have joined with the students and are attempting to boost the attendance attend-ance to an unheard of high of 85 percent regardless of the consequences. If enough chairs aren't available avail-able to hold class, the class will have to be moved outside anto the snowbanks which will soon be evident in the fair city of Park! John Lehmer. -PCHS- Merchants Thanked Pep Club, Cheerleaders and the Football team wish to thank the following merchants of Park City for their contributions to the team breakfast held Thursday, Thurs-day, October 5. Employers, parents, and minors can be charged with a misdemeanor if the worker does not have a permit. The state law requires minors to have a work permit so that the Board of Education can prevent employers from exploiting ex-ploiting the worker by having them work long and hard hours which might be detrimental to their health and interfere with their school work. You can acquire a work permit per-mit from the Board of Education Educa-tion by applying to the superintendent. super-intendent. Rosemary Durante -PCHS-Norman E. On Friday the 13th at a Pep Assembly the students picked a favorite teacher, Mr. Larry Sorenson, to play a part in a skit. The cheerleaders set up a ladder and on every step there was a cheerleader except on the very top step there was Mr. Sorenson. Everytime the students stu-dents yelled, "Beat 'Em Miners, Min-ers, Beat 'Em",apie would rise a step higher with the help of a cheerleader. When they yelled their very loudest, the pie went right into Mr. Sorenson's face.
