Show I Park City firemen battle a fire started by lightning at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Carl T. Woolsey. According to the homeowners home-owners the prompt response of the fire fighters held the damage to a minimum. Sfubborn Smoke Fire Is Caused by Direct lightning Hit on Roof A stubborn smoke fire was the result of a direct hit of a smashing bolt of lightning Thursday afternoon. The new home of Dr. Carl T. Woolsey high on Roosi Hill was damaged by smoke and water but damage dam-age was kept to a minimum by the efforts of the Park City Fire Department. Dr. and Mrs. Woolsey have nothing but good to say about the fire department. Mrs. Woolsey Wool-sey said, How disciplined they were so competent and 'all business'. It is difficult for us to put our feelings into words especially when a group of volunteer vol-unteer firemen and others save your house." 'We certainly credit them with the saving of our home! My heart is so full of gratitude to those who res ponded so quickly and efficiently she added. 'It was poignant afterwards when the firemen expressed regret for having to break into the new roof." We could tell that it hurt them as much as it did us when the first axe fell but they had to do their job or the whole house would have gone." The alarm was turned in by phone and just minutes later the volunteers were on their way. " The lightning bolt hit the chimney and the firemen quickly raised their ladders onto the roof, and the source, and pulled their hoses up after them. Dr. and Mrs. Woolsey, their son Jim, and nephew Tom Hudson Hud-son were all in the building when it was hit and reported that the noise was terrific. "It sure scared me!" said Dr. Woolsey. Mrs. Woolsey said again and again: 'We certainly want to express our heartfelt thanks to these men!" |
