W and Mary Ann Thompson She was as educated in the Salt Lake City schools received a bachelor of arts d degree e g gr r e e in English and education at the College of St. St Teresa Winona Minn and a masters master's degree in psychology and sociology at the University University University sity of Utah She also did graduate graduate graduate grad grad- work at the University of S Sou Southern o u t the h e r n California Los Angeles Beginning her career as a teacher Miss Thompson taught first at St. at-St. St. St Mary of the Wasatch College in Salt Lake City then at West High School In 1935 she was employed by the National Youth Admin Admin- an agency of the Us U.s. government as state director of projects to employ students in high school and college From 1939 to 1948 Miss Thompson was director of the d division i v vis I s i ion o n National Catholic Community Service for 11 II western states Active in civic affairs Miss Thompson was a member of the budget committee of Salt Lake City United Fund and a aboard aboard aboard board member and treasurer of the League of Women Voters Voters Voters Vot Vot- ers of Utah She was honored with the papal award Pro et the Catholic Churchs Church's highest award for lay women in 1956 Prior to being named secretary secretary secretary secre secre- tary general of the World Union of Catholic Women's Organizations Organizations Organizations in 1963 she served with the National Council of Catholic Women with the Utah Utah Girl Scouts Council and with numerous numerous numerous numer numer- ous local Catholic Church auxiliaries She is survived by a brother Robert B.
