U S. S Public Health Service the Incidence of epidemic meningitis Is comparatively high throughout the entire country Physicians are warned to be on the lookout for cased casell of or epidemic meningitis especially in view of the fact fa t. t that most of the patients have ha a skin eruption which may be mistaken for the eruption which accompanies other acute Infections infections such as measles scarlet fever etc The Tho onset of symptoms Is very similar to those of an acute cold The patient usually complains of a severe headache and stiffness of the neck The Incubation period of the disease Is comparatively short and varies from 3 to 7 days Fever Is present and variable The fever curve Is usually of the picket fence variety and fluctuates between 99 degrees de rees and degrees F.
