Show Mrs Thomas Kearns Dies In San Francisco Death called another esteemed pioneer to her final rest Tuesday at 1 05 1 05 p. p m. m In the Marys Mary's Rest hospital In San Francisco California following a n ma ma- major major jor operation This time It was Mrs Thomas Kearns belo ed wife of the late Senator Kearns and anti the last remaining member of tho I original Sliver Silver King mine family now known as the Silver King Coalition I Mines company j Mrs Kearns had been visiting In the I coast city prior to entering the hospital t A former resident of Salt Lake City CUy she had boon been residing ill ln n Reno Nevada since 1939 I A native of Port Henry Essex county New York Mrs Kearns was born b rn on November 30 1869 a n daughter of Patrick and Sarah Jane Judge I Her lIer father lather died In 1871 and In 1879 she sho and her family moved to this city I Her lIer mother had married William Wilson I before coming to Utah I Mrs Kearns was Vas educated In Port I Henry Henr and Park City schools ls and was married to the late Senator Thomas Kearns on September 14 14 1890 In Park City The family moved from hero I to Salt Lake City In 1899 and two years later Mr Kearns was elected to the theU U. U S. S i senate I Noted for her charitable activities I Mrs Kearns In 1899 founded the Kearns Kearns' St. St Anns Ann's orphanage which continued a n I major Interest throughout her life She was a n devout Catholic and In 1928 re received re- re received I a papal decoration being named a Lady of the Holy Sepulchre by Pope Plus XI Mrs Kearns In 1937 presented tho the Kearns mansion at East South Tem Tem- Temple Temple Templo plo street Salt Lake to tho the state of ot Utah The home now is the governors governor's mansion Construction of the building was started in 1904 and completed three years later soon after Mrs Kearns re returned re- re returned returned turned from a tour of Europe She moved to Reno two years after presenting the home to the state Sho was the mother of four tour children only one of whom survives He Is Thomas K F. o Kearns of 1602 Millcreek way Her other children were Margaret Kearns who died in 1893 at the age of two Edmund J.
