Show WAY OF FATTENING TURKEYS feeding green corn la Is bad practice alwawi have grit and charcoal near feed troughs dy by AMS EMMA STACEY at the price per pound given for turkeys these last years it pays to teed feed them to fo good weight as a couple af f pounds more on the weight counts but four or more pounds pays well I 1 put out in new blood at good prices each rear fear and make mahe special prices by sales of breeders bleeders bre eders each year after I 1 have called in my orders tor for breeding stock from the farmers about me I 1 go over my flocks blocks and make selections of at my best liens hens and gobblers after which these are marked and as far as is possible kept apart train the main flock after losing several of my best turkeys one year from feeding green corn I 1 shut oft off on that given raw although I 1 used it in plenty when z cooked I 1 do not begin feeding until pretty well along in october and then each morning new corn shelled or sometimes cut in small pieces la is placed in a large outdoor kettle and boiled for several hours by night this has cooled and Is ready tor for their suppers eup pera I 1 have never known cooked corn cam to h hurt urt them for morning they get a ration of ground oats boiled vegetables cornmeal mixed with either muk milk or water always they have grit and charcoal near by their feed troughs at noon thoy they get old corn sometimes wheat with an occasional feed of suet suel |
