Show Too .llueh llalld-Miakllif. There is nothing more agreeable to a warm-hearted man or woman than a cordial hand-shake with a friend, but there are circumstances under which even hand-shaking is superfluous and undesirable. For example, take a reception re-ception by some prominent official in Washington. Say there are a thousand people in attendance. Each shakes hands with the host and hostess on arriving ar-riving When the time for departure depart-ure comes, no visitor feels at liberty lib-erty to leave without bidding the host- ! ess good-bye with another hand-shake. By the time everybody has gone the hostess will have shaken hands at least 2,000 times, and feels as tired as a laborer la-borer after a day's work. Here is an opportunity for a reform that will be agreeable to hospitable people in Washington and elsewhere as well. |
