When they sent out their Right of way Agent, and their Sur-veyors, they promised Ephraim a nice Station Building to protect the freight sent to this place, and I un-derstand that these gentlemen show-ed the City Council and Railway Committee plans of the building to be put up in Ephraim, providing the City of Ephraim would give them right of way and depot ground. Now the City has done so, at an expense of nearly 4000.00 and I understand it will cost even more before everything is straightened up again. Now, when the City of lphraim has come up to the demand of the R. R. Co., what is than the matter with them, that they don't come up to their agreement, of put-ting up the Station Building, as prom ised in return for right of way and depot ground? Whenever I come around the de-pot grounds I see heavy boxes and trunks laying around, exposed to wind, and weather. Many times they contain great values; also merchandise is treated in the same manner. How long do you think that Flphraim will patron-ize them, if they don't come up to their promises? I am sure not long. Yesterday Iwent to thefside track to see some teamsters unloading freight, and I was surprised to see in which shape that freight was handled. The road to the case was next to impassable, and crossing over the track, and all what team could haul from these cars was next to nothing. Is that tna wav the railroad company shoiildjserve a place or city th.it has donc as much as Ephraim lias? I sav No! and thev will also find out beloie long that the merchants of Ephraim and the patromzers of the Road will noi stand it very much longer, but will take other steps to protect themselves ai d their nieichaudise, and not risk to have jV.riMl'i'HATKit. Nor is there nitc'.j pr';-.;it- t now that any serious change will be inade next winter Meanwhile the appropriations votei! have been so l.ue anl liberal that the Treasury S,i: p!us must he con-siderably reilture 1, and the available supply of currenry iiu reased within the current year. Against these facts there is to be reckoned the outgo of ,uol.!. which the Treasury has now decided to check by charg-ing a slight premium i'jr bars taken for export. This does not prevent shipments of ?6oo,ooo this week, and probably wiilnot prevent larger shipments in tlie near future, but a prospect of good crops next Fall, and adjournment of Western legisla-tures without seriously injurious en-actments, may give a new impetus to the foreign deuumd for upward rather rapidly, the average having risen more than one per cent, during the last week, and the exports of merchandise are thus liable to be restricted. Reports of trade from all parts of ihe country show little change since last week, though there is perhaps a little activity on the whole, liusi uess at Kansas City, with receipts of 1 1,000 cattle and 56,000 hogs. Chicago reports an extraordinary decrease in dressed beef receipts, and a heavy in receipts of grain, lard and hides, but large gain in cured meats end wool. Thus far this week, wheat exports are not half last year's for the same clays, flour exports not one-hal- f, and corn exports only one-nint- The speculative wave which began with the prospect cf free silver coinage last Spring, will recede in time, not to the advantage of those who hold large stocks of products. The woolen industry is in a far better condition, the output of knit goods, worsteds and dress goods, and the medium and lower grades of men's cloth, being larger than at any other time for five years, but the more costly grades of cloth are not yet in strong demand. . The Treasury has put out, silver notes included, only 200,000 more currency than it has taken in during the past week, but the money mar-kets are generally well supplied for legitimate business needs, though at some points stringent or more active. The reports as to collection grow a little less satisfactory, and yet it is the prevailing impression that business in all parts of the conn try is on a solid footing, and will prosper when good crops come. Pyramid. The Sentii.el says it, so of course it must be true: "A merchant from Ephraim called to pay a bill at Z. C. M. I., Salt Lake, the other day. On account of being so prompt Supt.
