Show There are thousands ol ycung women between the ages of sixteen and twenty-three twenty-three in New York city who are working work-ing ten hours a day for $3. $4 and 5 a week. Some of them stem tobacco leaves, others work in cracker factories clothing shops and dressmaking establishments, estab-lishments, some wrapcarmels in papers, wash watchcases, tag g -ods and check of boxes of merchandise. But fhe great maj, irity are cleiking in the large retail stores, w here the willingness of comfortably circumstanced girls to work for small pay has produced an over supply ol labor. How these dependent little women manage to preserve their moral and physical life is beyond conjecture. |
