of affairs I 1 N when tile citizens come to look at the matter right there can be but little causo for complaint six mills odthe whole tax remains in the assessed county for internal expenses and improvements the county receives its portion of 3 mills ten file school fund Is returned and thus the ter r ito conly gets 3 mills out of tile 12 A v hie I 1 orea messed them w erd only two brays aich the board could choose they must either reduce the tax in tile counties where tile valuation was the highest or raise the lowest they chose the latter as the best for all concerned it Is ex p c c 1 ed that before next december li board will call to gether all the assessors of the terri tora wit C view to entering upon a uniformity of methods in assessment the trouble in some counties now Is that much property is not on the tax list at all another error is that the N alua tion Is low being gen orally from 50 to 70 per cent and the r to comparatively high if a ess ments were made the rate would be much lower and tile valuation much higher which is as it should be thus tile burden that would fall upon the people would be no heavier than at present and the showing rould be vastly bettered it Is ex peeled that all these defects and many more will be remedied next year as lack of time prevented tile board from attending to them ahlo season excursions EXOUR G A R A 0 U w ana the foresters
