Show NEW WORK IN AND AROUND OGDEN. -r system for three blocks and the paving of four blocks of Y. Arlington avenue, north from Twenty-second street are improvements, im-provements, the preliminary arrangements for which have been nade and the actual work on which should start in the next few days when the trenching for the sewer will be commenced. It is estimated that approximately $100 000. will be expended in the four blocks north from the Tabernacle, including the inter-i inter-i lections. I There is now much work for the common laborer and even ikilled workmen. The tearing down and rebuilding along Hudson j avenue means an expenditure of many thousand dollars. There arc a number of large buildings to be erected before winter. Beginning August 22, the Davis & Weber Counties Canal com-pany com-pany will start an army of men on the concreting of the waterway. The outlay will be not less than $150,000 and will call for the services ser-vices of a large number of men for months. The power plant, which will represent an investment of $300,000, may be ordered constructed con-structed without delay and that would add to the demand for skilled " and unskilled laborers. If the bonds carry at the election to be held September 5th, the city will begin the $100,000 improvements on the waterworks, inv eluding a new conduit from the reservoirs east of the city, to Wheeler Canyon "and the repairing of the old conduit which has seen service for nearly a quarter of a century without repairs. The Harriman roads have plans for changes in the local yards which call for a heavy outlay and the employment of a large force of men for months to come. With all this work in sight, Ogden is facing the fall and winter months with assurance of employment for all willing workers. The business outlook for this city was never better and these big improvements make doubly certain the prosperity of Ogden. |
