Show SEN. CLARK'S REJOICINGS. Former Senator William A. Clark of Montana, in an interview in Salt Lake on Saturday last, gave expression to his dislike of Theodore Theo-dore Roosevelt and vented his pent up exuberance over the defeat of the Colonel.. Said Mr. Clark: "The overthrow of Theodore Roosevelt at the elction last Tuesday Tues-day was a godsend to the United States, one of the greatest that has ever happened in the history of the country. Tbis man would not only be dictator, but he would be king if he could.. It is well that his un-American doctrines and personal ambitions were rebuked by the people of the United States. "The result of the election of last Tuesday is extremely gratifying gratify-ing to me, as it must be to a big majority of the people of thi3 country. coun-try. There is no question that in at least New York Roosevelt was an issue an issue that meant either a dictator or the will of tho people. "The people won. "It is evident to my mind that the people of the United States are not yet ready for a dictator, or a king, and that principle which has made this country what it is today, the rule of the people, is still alive, and always will be. I do not think that there is niueh regret from one end of this country to the other that the man who would make himself king if he could was overthrown. The political atmosphere atmos-phere is cleared a great deal by the overthrow of Roosevelt and his ideas. It is well for the country." ' Roosevelt has made his mistakes, but one of them was not an ambition to be a king or dictator, and the former senator from Montana Mon-tana errs in charging that un-American desire to the man in Oyster Bay. Roosevelt is not politically dead. He will continue a great factor for good in American politics, for in many things he is right. The people may have resented some of his over-aggressive methods and have seen some inconsistencies to deplore, but they still believe in the man's inherent honesty and candor, and that faith in him will hold a mighty following.
