The Peery block on the corner of Twentv -fifth street and Hudpon aenue will make use of more af Its allotted spacv than anv other building in the city, and. when completed, will be among the most modern and beautiful of the city. The contract for the building of the basement of the structure has been lot to Hatevnan & Doyle, and a force of men and teams was put to work today. The tost of the block will he something over $20,000. The building will 1-e two shories high, extending for 21 feet along Hudson Hud-son avenue and about 15 feet on Twenty-fifth street. The first floor' will be partitioned Into three store rooms, one facing on Twenty-fifth street, the ether two facing on Hudson Hud-son avenue, an. I the front of all the si fires will be of glass. The upper floor will be partitioned into oClce rooms, and In order to give greater depth to the rooms, they will all be balconied over the sidewalk on Hudson avenue. The basement, which is to be used for a modern cafe, w II! extend the full length of the building on both Hudson avenue and Twenty fifth street, except a small space which will he used as an engine and heating plant, and will extend under ti.e sidewalks of both the streets. This will make the basement base-ment about 1"0 feet long and ::f. feet wide. The entire structure will be heated with steam and everything modern to be found in any business b'ock in the state will be installed In this building.
