Show COAL COHTEE ;T0 REPORT TODAV With the examination of four more local coal dealers, the Weber club Investigating In-vestigating committee completed the taking of evidence In the alleged coal combine yesterday. It is intimated that the report will contain only the statement that there is no combine or conspiracy among local coal dealers. Since taking up its work the committee has discovered that, without the authority which can I only be supplied by the courts, it is Impossible to carry the Investigation to the mine operators and railroads. if the report to be submitted by tho committee contains nothing more than the assertion that there Is no combine com-bine among the ret:ll dealers, the efforts ef-forts of tho investigating body will i have practlcallv been without result other than that the committee learned j the wholesale price charged by mine : operators and the net profit to le-lail-ors. j To even attempt to secure from the Oal operutors or railroads any evl- i dence of an alleged combine without ' first basing tbeir authority on legal i Instructions to that effect is conshl- j cred.by ie commiiti e a liultless en-I (.'eavor. The complete detail of the committee's flndlug.i will probably be made public in the very near future. |
