Show 'GUARD BOYS' LEAVE FOR CAMP - At S: 13 this evening the boys of Company B, about forty-five In number, num-ber, will leave on the Union Pacific , special train which Is to carry the , Utah National Guard to Dale Creek. Wyo.. near which place will be held the biennial camp of instruction. The mil.tla train will be made up of two sections and will carry In nil about 330 guardsmen. The Utah guard has made good showing during the part two camps and General Wedgewood is certain that the guard will' not fall tbi year ta keep up the pace set In the past. The boys will be assembled with the regulars and will be given everything In conned Ion with actual service. Of the two trains which carry the Utah guards to the camping pl'ice, the first will carry the Infantry' organizations, or-ganizations, hospital corps and the signal corps and will be followed closely by the second section, which will carry the battery and the signal corps Sergeant Berl.heait of the Salt Lake signal corps left for Dale Creek yesterday morning on an advance train, carrying all the heavy equipment equip-ment and will have everything la readiness read-iness for unloading the trains Into the escort wagons It is the plan of the boys to sleep In their small shelter tents tomorrow night at Daie Creek, if the weather Is favorable. In case of unfavorable conditions, the guard will remain on board the train. The train will be equipped with special dining cars so the guard will not lack for wholesome food on the trip. Thursday morning I be boys will leave for ihe sixteen-mile hike to the camp site. The walk is over rugted ground, but should be completed by Thursday noon so that the camp will be up and everything In shape for tho night. While In camp the battery will be attached to the Fourth artillery, and the signal corps to Company I, signal corps. The halterymen will all ride, cither on horses or guns. The majority ma-jority of tho men from the corps will be mounted, the remaining members riding on the escort wagons. The two organizations have to make the greater great-er distances during maneuvers and naturally ride. The seven riflemen of Ogden. who are a part of the state team fo compete com-pete nt the national shoot at Camp Perry, will devote most of their time to rifle practice during the encampment encamp-ment On August 12, when the camp will be broken, iho Utah rifle team will leave for Toledo. Ohio, near which city the big sboot is to take place. The national rifle competition will not be finished until August 2ii. so that the Ogden boys who are to lake part In it will not reach this city again until about the first of next month. |
