Show INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL FOR PEARSON Roland Pearson, the young man who stole Dr. Crawsbaw's automobile Thursday night, was committed to the State Industrial . school yesteiYay evening and was turned over to the, authorities of tho institution by Juvenile Ju-venile Officer Jacobs. Pearson is 15 years old, the son of a widow, who has to work for a living, liv-ing, and It appears that the boy has become Incorrigible in many ways. Ho has a good home, but of late, according accord-ing to the statement of Mr. Jacobs, be ha-s persisted In sleeping away from home, sometimes In vacaut buildings. Often his mother did not I know where he was for a number of days at a time. I The only excuse the young fellow gave for taking Dr. Crawshaw's ma- ; chine from the Fair grounds tho night of the Keller-Thomas boxing contest, was that he knew of other boys taking tak-ing machines and riding around In them and then returning them without with-out tho owner knowing an thing about U. He said, though, that he met with a httle bad, luck with the machine and could not return It. "I was getting along all right with the machine," he said, "when the old tire flew off and I was stuck. I was ihen afraid to go back to the Fair grounds and tell what I had done. 1 ' had no Intention of stealing the auto; I just wanted to ride in It." |
