Show CAPTURE OF A SATCHEL THIEF Thomas Ellis was arrested yesterday yester-day by Patrolman Crompton, on the charge of petit larceny. An acquaintance of Ellis left bis rxlp in the care of tbe landlady of a rooming house on lower Twenty-fll'lh street, where the two were slopping, and started for a walk about town. An hour laier, in passing a sec-I sec-I ond hand store, the man was surprised sur-prised to find his grip displayed for t-ale. He informed the proprietor that the property belonged to him, and told him to retain 680skIou of it until un-til he returned. lie then secured the assistance ot Patrolman Crompton, who shortly Hi ter placed Ellis under arrest. As tbe cwner of the grip claims that besides the clothing It contained there weie two $10 gold pieces, and as Ellis ha J $12 in his pocket and had just spent $$ about town in making some pur chases, there Is a probability that th- charge of grand larceny will be mad against him The value of the grip put Its contents will determine th mntter." |
