Show THE WEBER CANYON CUT-OFF. The Weber Canyon-Fannington cut-off has been abandoned and orders have been received to proceed with the double tracking of the Oregon Short Line from Farmington north to Ogden. A year ago there was much uneasiness manifested over the sur- veying of routes fro- the mouth of Weber canyon, south across the Sand Ridge, to Farmington. The long tunnel and cut through the Sand Ridge, extending for more than a mile and the prohibitive grade caused the officials o the Harriman lines to decide in favor of extending the trouble tracking of the present road between Ogden and Salt Lake, as presenting a more serviceable and profitable route for all traffic, including that of the San Pedro. The double track, we understand, is to be completed before the resumption of through travel over the Clark road, and that means within the next four months. This is a most important decision as it eliminates all possibility ' of traffic being diverted from the mouth of the canyon to connec-s connec-s t2onwith either the San Pedro, or the Western Pacific, should the Harriman interests obtain control of that road. i |
