A violent earthquake shock running north southwest and eabt-northeast. lasting three seconds and during which the Stromboll volcano volca-no began eruption, occurred on Strom-boll Strom-boll Island today. The phenomena was accompanied by prolonged dull rumblings. Tho houses on the islands were badly damaged dam-aged and tbe population fled to tho streets In a panic, but no one was hurt.
