Governor George E. Chamberlain, Democrat, was elected United States senator today by a Republican legislature. Fulton, Ful-ton, whom Chamberlain will succeed if ho Is elected, has, It is alleged, repeatedly re-peatedly urged the legislature to elect a Republican instead of a Democrat, despite the fact that a majority of the members were pledged to the people to vote for Chamberlain.
