Show ADVOCATES NATIONAL UNKIN Of All Actor's in United States to Affiliate With Federation. New York, March ".The bring ing of all the actors of the United States iu a national organization which could affiliate with the American Amer-ican Federation of. Labor was urged tonight by John Mitchell, former president presi-dent of the United Mine Workers of America. He did this at a meeting of members of the Actors' Society of America, the Actors' Church Alliance, the Actors' Union, the Vaudeville Comedy club, tho White Rat6 of America Amer-ica and a number of other associations of actors, called to protest against alleged abuses at the hands of theatrical the-atrical agents. By bringing their united strength to bear, Mr. Mitchell told the actors they would be In a position to command proper consideration and free themselves them-selves of exactions and tyrannies which under their present disorganized condition they were compelled meekly to endure. "The timo will come," said Mr. Mitchell, "when every actor will be a mcttrber of an International organization organiza-tion which will fight his fight." The actors passed resolutions indorsing in-dorsing a bill to be Introduced tomorrow tomor-row by Assemblyman Voss, limiting to Ave per cent the commission to be paid to theatrical agents by actors. |
