This staved off the fight-crazed fan3 for a time. Then the growling began Finally the referee announced that ono of the fighters had shown tho yellow yel-low and failed to appear for the go. A dollar, one solitary, cold, round buck, was offered to the man who would go on with the remaining aspirant aspir-ant for pugilstic fame. "Make it a dollar an car fare, shouted Noah. "You're on," laughed the referee. Well, the fight didn't last very long. Burns sailed into that poor pug with a vengeance. Ho didn't use mucn science, it is true. But he got there just tho same; got there with short jabs and reckless swings. The man whoso name appeared on the program lasted about three rounds. His seconds sec-onds tossed up the sponge. |
