Show LOCALS WILL MEET WHITE SOX ARRANGEMENT FOR GAME MADE AT UNION DEPOT. Famous Chicago Aggregation to Take In Ogden on Return Trip, March 30. The special train conveying the "White Sox" base ball team of Chicago Chi-cago to California passed through Ogden Og-den yesterday afternoon at 4:50. The team, or rather the aggregation ag-gregation of teams, -there being 33 men in the company, are now on their way to the Golden state, where they are scheduled for a series of 22 games. Ihey will play all of the leading teanjs of California from San Francisco to San Diego. The noted ball players were met at the Union dopot yesterday afternoon by President F. N. Hess of the Ogden Og-den team, Secretary' Reynolds of the Weber club, a number of Ogden baseball base-ball enthusiasts and a few newspaper correspondents and were' given a cordial cor-dial welcome to the city. They, however, remained In the depot but a few minutes when they continued on their way westward,' The train carrying carry-ing the party was the second section of-Union Pacific No. 1, and consisted of four Pullman 'sleepers, a dining car and two baggage cars. There were 96 people In the company, all of whom were ball players of more or less renown re-nown and many of whom were accompanied accom-panied by their wives. The company wa under the direction direc-tion of President Charles Comlskey of the American baseball team and President Presi-dent W L- O'Neill of tho Western league. These gentlemen were In good spirits regarding the outlook for the coming baseball season, and they freely expressed the thought that there .-would be "something doing" in the game this year. They also stated that the players were all In fine condition condi-tion and that with a few days'- training train-ing on the coast they would be ready to make as good showing as ever before. be-fore. Most of the time of the two managers man-agers while In the Ogden depot was occupied with President Hess of the Ogden team in arranging a date with the locals. It was finally, decided that the Ogden team will meet the champions cham-pions here on March 30, while the Chicagoans are on their .return trip home from the west.-. This was definitely defi-nitely decided and the Ogden lads will go into Immediate training for the event. A happy coincidence with, the visit of the big team in Ogden was that J. H. ("Dad") Olmlln, manager of the Ogden team, piloted the train carrying carry-ing the "White Sox" from hero to California Cal-ifornia and that "Dad" will get fouay between here and San Francisco sizing siz-ing up the forces he will be called upon to meet on the diamond March 30 it is not necessary to state. : : ' I |
