Show ELECTION OF OFFICERS HELD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN REGULAR REG-ULAR ANNUAL SESSION. Secretary Kennedy Reports Steady Growth of Local Organization Along Various Lines. The regular annual meeting of the OgJen Chamber of Commerce was held last night at the usual meeting place of the organization, the purpose of the meeting being to make a resume re-sume of the past year's work and the standing of the organization at the present time and also to elect a board of directors for the ensuing year. The report of Secretary Kennedy showed a membership of 1S4, who are residents of Ogden, 14 ' others residing outside the city and 2 honorary members... making a total membership ot 200. Sixty-four Sixty-four delinquent members were reported, re-ported, but it was stated that most of these, would 'be reinstated and that there had been only throe resignations during the year. On the question of advertising, the report Indicated that 12.000 circulars and pamphlets advertising Ogden and her many resources had been distributed distrib-uted to strangers within the gates of the city and to people traveling over the railroads through the city. The secretary also reported that the most efficient work for the advancement of the organization and for boosting of Ogden and vicinity had been done by special committees, only five stand-lug stand-lug committees having accomplished anything of Importance. . In concluding the report, the sec-retaty sec-retaty stated that the Chamber of Commerce had been during the year a potent factor in the advocacy of measures for' the betterment of the commercial and moral interests of the community and had at all times been in favor of "doing things." That the Chamber had been an open forum where the optimist and the pessimist were given full sway In the discussion of matters of lntere'st to the community. commun-ity. That the organization had been during the first year of . its existence in favor of the Bamberger franchise, the high school bonds, the waterworks purchase, cheaper Insurance, alterations altera-tions on the federal building, lower electric light rates, Improvements in street car facilities and tho Dos Moines Idea of municipal government. The board of directors elected last evening Is as follows: S. II. Browne, W. L. Russell, Hyrum Belnap, J. J. Brummitt, O. A. Kennedy. J. H. Hill, C. M. Clay, S. S. Smith, J. C Nye, W. M. Pratt, S. H. Hendershot, J. T. Ru&hmer, W. G. Frleday and W. F. Critchlow. The board will meet within a short time and organize by selecting the officers of-ficers of the same, who shall constitute the officers of the organization. |
