Show I MEETING OF SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES ARE READ, BUT NOT APPROVED. . - Adjournment Made As Token of Respect Re-spect to Absent Member, Asael Farr. The board of education mot last evening in regular session. President llrownlng, Williams, Pmgree and Coulter being in attendance. Mr. Farr was absent, duo to the death of his father, Lorin Farr. Thj minutes of tho previous meeting meet-ing were read but wero not approved, on account of an amendment interposed inter-posed by President Browning which was not concurred In. -The amendment amend-ment was to that part of the minutes which read that the matter of the election of the clerk and treasurer, which came up before the board at Its last meeting had been referred to the legal adviser of the board and was to be considered at the meeting last night. Mr. Browning contended that the minutes should read that the matter mat-ter had been referred to the attorney and the board was to abide by his decision which was to have been sub; mltted at the meeting last night. Pin-gree Pin-gree and Coulter . objected to tho amendment on the grounds that they did not understand that the board was bound to abide by tho decision of the attorney on the question. After considerable parleying on the matter regarding what the minutes should contain on the question, It was declared by the president that tho minutes of the previous meeting would stund unapproved, the question to come before jthc board at the next meeting, when It is expected that all the members will be present. Out of respect to Asael Farr, tho absent member of the boardy' because of the death , of his father, the ' late Lorin Farr, an adjournment was taken until next Friday night. |
