Prohibition rnad its first Inning In the legislature yosteiday afternoon whn Representative Porter of Morgan county, coun-ty, introduced house bill No. 6, which is an act to forbid the sale or manufacture manu-facture of intoxicating liquors within the stato except for mechanical, medicinal medi-cinal and sacramental purposes. The bill was referred to the committee on judiciary. The bill caused some comment com-ment as it was not believed that such a measure would bo introduced until later In the session. It is now certain that a bitter fight will follow as the bill rails for the forbidding of the manufacture manu-facture of intoxicating liquors and would thereby wipe out the breweries, in which many thousands of dollars are invested. But short sessions were held by both house and senate yesterday afternoon. No morning session was held on account ac-count of the Good Roads convention. Scarcely anything was done by the. senate during its afternoon session. Senator Ilulaniski introduced senate bill No. 8. asking for an appropriation of $3,500 for the hoard of horticulture for tho payment of monei's advanced by Fred J. Keisel. Thomas R. Cutler and Jos. Geoghan to defray the expenses ex-penses of the exhibition of Utah resources re-sources at the Irrigation Congress session ses-sion at Albuquerque. N. M . in IMS. In the senate, senaie bill No.5 was Introduced In-troduced and referred to the judiciary committee. It defines the crime of Indecent In-decent assault and provides for the punishment. Under this measure It will he a felony. Senator Badger introduced senate bill No. 6, which Is to prevent the unauthorized un-authorized use of the name, portrait or picture of any person for trade use. The measure forbids the use of name, i portrait or picture of a person without first obtaining the writton consent of tho person, or if It is a minor, the consent con-sent of the guardian shall be secured. It allows tho maintenance of an action in the district court for an Injunction and also allows the same action to allow al-low damages. Senator Badger also Introduced senate sen-ate bill No. 7. which is an amendment to section 4731, compiled laws of Utah, 1907, changing It so that an information informa-tion for rape or carnal knowledge may also contain a count for indecent assault. as-sault. Under a suspension of the rules a resolution was also passed authorizing the appointment of a messenger to Governor Spry. Senator Albert E.
