Manager Bettison. of the National Sporting club, paid to-i to-i night that he nad been endeaoring to arrange fights between Jack Johnson, the heavyweight chimpion. and other aspirants for the championship, both American an.l English. With the exception of Johnson's fight with Sam Langford of Boston, absolutely ab-solutely nothing had been arranged, not even th? date. Fitzpatrlck, the manager of Johnson, has written that he would be back In Lpndon sometime ! in February, but Mr. Betlison did not expect him berore the end of March, owing to theatrical engagements. Both Johnson and Fitzpatrlck had said they destred to moke engagements with the National Sporting club. , |
