Show UNCLAIMED SCHOOL MONEY HAS BEEN IN A LOCAL BANK i THIRTEEN YEARS. Large Sum to Be Added to the Funds of City and County Schools Letter to Standard. For some tlme-tho school boards of Ogden and Wober county have been considering tho question of the disposal dis-posal of $3,074.10 of money which has been in the Ogden State bank thirteen years. In order to explain the source of this money, tho Standard sent a communication lo the Ogden State bank, to which the following reply by the bank has been received: "Editor Standard: In reply to your Inquiry as to whether there is any school money on deposit with us, are pleased to say that there is a balance of Three Thousand Seventy-four and 10-100 Dollars ($3.071 10) standing on our books to the creditf the Territorial Territor-ial School Fund. The transactions In this account covered a period of several sever-al years during which time various deposits de-posits were made to it and very many drafts drawn against it by the'County Superintendent of Schools. Finally the checking ceased, leaving a balance as stated. We do not know why it has not been disbursed but probably was overlooked by he Superintendent Superintend-ent "We wish to say, however, that the money has at all times been carried by us in an open account on our balance bal-ance books and ledger, suhject to the order of those authorized to draw against it." The money is to be paid over to the school funds, with 2 1-2 per cent added, aggregating about $4,000. of which 'the cit will receive about f2.S00. |
