The special committee appointed by tho Colorado river commission to draw up a treaty covering allotment of the water of the river for seven western states still was working today and it was expected It would bo a day or two yet before the committee is able to present its finished work to the Commission, Officials today predicted predict-ed the compact would be signed Wed-ii' Wed-ii' d ay or "Ihursday next. Herbert Hoover, chairman of the commission, said today that one ofdhe difficulties to be solved In flxlnsr the exaot definition of words useel in tho compact. He pointed out that the word "appropriation," for instance, has seven different meanings as ap-plled ap-plled t" water, in each of the seven I different states. The treaty will undoubtedly un-doubtedly define this and eight or ' nine other Important words so as to avoid future difficulties The work of defining these words is said to be the present task of the special committee, and lawyers as , well as engineers, are lending their aid. |
