Show FRANCS AND LIRE AT NEW LOW PRICES NEW YORK. Oct. 2S. Further depreciation de-preciation of French and Italian exchanges ex-changes took place today, both francs and lire being quoted at now low records rec-ords for the year. French Francs sold at 6.63c each as compared with Wednesday's high of 7.02 c and Italian lire were quoted at 3.84 c as compared with Wednesday's Wednes-day's high of- 4.01c. Tho par of both exchanges is 19.3 cents. Heavy purchases of American dollars dol-lars with continental funds presumably presum-ably to establish credits for purchase of grain, cotton and other raw materials ma-terials arc responsible in part for the further slump. The raw sugar market was steady and unchanged un-changed today at 3?ic for Cubas cost and freight, equal to 6.53c for contrl-fugaL contrl-fugaL There wero sales of 64,000 bags of Cubas for October and November Novem-ber shipment. Raw sugar futuros were firmer on commission house buying, prompted by tho increased demand for raw sugar su-gar and tho higher ruling of refinod. Prices at ono tlmo showed advances of 4 polntn on leading positions, but lost part of tho gain under liquidation, liquida-tion, and nt midday wcro 1 to 2 points higher. In refined several reflnors advanced ad-vanced list prkica 10 points with fine granulated now ranging from 6.90 to 7.00c. Refined futures were nominal.
