Show CORONER JURY FINDS II CASE OF FOi DEAD That the deaths of the four persons killed in the automobile accident at Clearfield on Tuesday last at -1.30 o'clock when the Denver & Hlo Grande Western train struck an uutomobile driven by Mrs W. W BteeH, Jr.. was due to the train striking the automobile; automo-bile; and that the railroad company was negligent in not providing suitable suit-able signalling devices to warn the public, was the vrdict of the coroner s Jury at the hearing that was concluded con-cluded Thursday evening at Clearfield. The hearing was heard before Justice Jus-tice of the Peace Marlon J. Steed, of Clearfield and lu witnesses were examined Included among which were tho train crew. The Jurors were Jens K. Nelson, lleber C. Blood and Albert T. Smith. I ()l ll ARE DEAD. Mrs. Jesse D. Barlow, Florence Beck, a sister of Mrs. Barlow, and a daughter Of Alex Beck of Centerfleld. Sanpete county. Mrs, W. W. The verdict of the Jury is as follows: fol-lows: "State of Utah; Clearfield Precinct. County of Davis. Layton, W. R. Roberts. Ernest Hamblln, Mel-vln Mel-vln Hamblln, all of Clearfield; Moroni MiirsdLn, Layton; and Ren Barton of Syracuse. The train and engine crews testified that the necessary whistle and bell signals were given at tho usual point before reaching tho crossing. Farmers that testified oald ' the whistle was blown, but some said they wero unable to testify definitely whether either signal was sounded. ' oo |
