Show BENCH CANAL BOARD MEETS Directors of the Ogden Bench Canal company met last nlghc In the city hall and listened to the reading of the financial statement covering expenditures expendi-tures for the last year. The report showed that revenue collocr.ed was In excess of $2,000 Of this. $800 was paid as salary for a walerrnaster. $200 for secretary. $25 for printing noticos for stockholders. $15 for their distribution distri-bution and $80 for directors. Mayor Frank Francis, a director, suggested rhat the, overhead expense was quite heavy and was costing the city of Ogden more than $900 annuallv with no direct benefit derived except to maintain the city's water rlghr Mayor Francis said that In his opinion opin-ion the time had arrived when the city should be In control of the company com-pany organization and if the transfer could be made It would eliminate much of the expense- The city waterworks water-works department he said, could carry car-ry out the work of the secretary and the watermaft'er and get out notices, which would decrease the operating expenses about one-half. The mayor pointed nut that approximately ap-proximately $fioj had been spent in actual work on the canal Inst year, despite de-spite hat the assessment was five cents a share on 45.000 shares of stock of which the city holds more than 18.000 shares of outstanding stock, which, with over 12.000 shares held by the state in the name of the "ate .school for the deaf and blind, gives the City and state much of the outstanding stock.
