Sheepmen of tho country ussemblod hero this morning morn-ing for the opening session of the fifty-seventh annual convention of the National Woolgrowors' association, Tho sessions aro being held In the Hotel Utah. Frank J. Hagenbartli. president of the association, delivered his annual address af. the morning meeting which opened at 10 o'clock and this was followed fol-lowed by the report of F. 11. Marshal, secretary-treasurer of tho organization. organiza-tion. Speaking of what the convention will accomplish, Mr. Hagonbarth turned turn-ed to the question of marketing, saying: say-ing: "The disorganization of financial conditions in the past two months has resulted in most unfavorable marketing mar-keting conditions, ovor which the producers pro-ducers have had no control and against which hoy were unable to protect themselves. "The convention will take steps looking look-ing to tho establishment of a national agency, especially for tho western range staio. for the marketing of then lambs and sheep. The scope and functions func-tions of the-Woolgrowers' Commission company, of which A. J. Knollin Is, manager, will be considerably enlarged and will be conducted under the patronage pat-ronage of tho National Woolgrowors' association to a greater extent than heretofore. "The convention will likewise formulate formu-late plans for the propor financing, grading, warehousing and markotlng of fthe wools. It is apparent that undor existing conditions this work will bo done through cooperative pools conducted con-ducted under tho auspices of tho state and local organizations with tho cooperation co-operation and assistance of tho national na-tional association." |
