What Is believed to be the key check that served General Benedict Arnold's staff officers whenever they tin-locked tin-locked ofiickil documents, la ono of the revoluf lonary relics acquired J hy the firdd exploration committee of the New York Historical society, it was learned today The key check probably asolsted the traitorous Arnold the night ho removed military plans from West Point and came down tho Hudson to meet Major Andrew ol the Brltit-h It was found In tho ruins of an old house In Brooklyn, and with It were about t-.vo dozen copper coins of the stamp ol George II and George III. The check Is made of lead, about one-eighth ol an Inch thick, and about thre inches long. Un one Bide is stamped "Arnold B Staff" and on the other "Con Army." |
