Show PREDICTS HEW I RISEJPCES Cfcgan .College Professor on Return From East Gives Review of Opinions 'v Prices aro not through with their skyward flight, according to Prof. F. Ei Peterson, registrar of the Utah Agricultural college and professor of accounting, who han just returned from an extended trip to "Washington, D. C, and Now York, where he got in close touch with the present financial finan-cial situation. While Prof. Peterson admits that there is quite a widespread feolirig "Itmong business men that we acr in for a -slump and that something, some-thing, goodness knows what, Is going to happen soon, he bases his predic-1 tion upon a rather close analysis of tho situation. While in New York, Prof. Peterson interviewed Professor Galloway, professor pro-fessor of industry in New York unl-. yersity and financial expert of inter-) national fame. Professor Galloway I contends that prices are going to con-' tlnuo tneir upward trend for two prin-j cipal reasons. In tho first place, congress con-gress will soon pass some legislation to givo ex-service men extra financial consideration. This money will be raised by the sale of bonds and this will still further increase the amount of money In circulation with a consequent conse-quent further decrease in the value of tho already discredited dollar. More Important still, Europe will pledge her credit, Avhich is considerable in spite of the fact that she has no money, because be-cause of the great value of her material mate-rial possessions. This credit, which will be pledged in the United States for United States money, will in turn bo spent again In tho United Stated, and will serve as the basis for a great increase in tho volume of business. It will have tho same effect as an addition addi-tion to tho circulating medium with a consequent rise in prices. Prices will only tend to decline when Europe is again on her feet and actually competing with us, ' is the opinion of Prof. Galloway. Professor Peterson went east primarily pri-marily to attend the tenth annual convention of the American Association Associa-tion of Collegiate Registrars held in Washington and 13, 14 and 15. At this convention, forty-six states were represented. |
