Show STOCKS FALL IN HLLINE Losses of 1 to 4 Points Is Brought About by Credit Association. NEW YOKK, June 1. Heavy selling sell-ing accompanied the resumption of trade on the stock market exchange today. Offerings for both long and j short account were precipitated by 'further credit contraction. This was indicated by the higher discount rates announced over the week-end by the 'federal reserve banks of tills city and iChi.cago. Losses ranged from, one to-'four to-'four points, greatest .weakness being 'shown by Crucible, Bethlehem and Republic Re-public Steels, Mexican and Pan-Amer-lican Petroleums, Studebaker, American Ameri-can Locomotive, Baldwin Locomotive and affiliated industrials. Hails also reacted under lead of Cnion Pacific, Texas and Pacific and Pock Island. J Almost without exception losses at the outset were extended during thei morning. Additions to the initial setback set-back included United Fruit, Sumatra; Tobacco, Chandler Motors and motor i specialties at extreme recessions of 2( to 3 .points. High grade oils met with occasional support and Crucible Steel j recovered much of its reversal. Rails ( rallied lateron buying of Rock Island, SL Louis & San Francisco, Missouri ' Pacific and Southern railway. Callj money failed to reflect tho further stringency in time funds, opening at six per cent. There was a renewal' of tho recent liquidation in Liberty bonds, the second 4s showing marked weakness at a decline of 1.64 per cent. Shorts pressed their advantage during dur-ing tho stagnant mid-session, making further attacks against motors and their subsidiaries, as well as equipments equip-ments and food issues. Traders await-1 ed word from Washington where thej supreme court was expected to render i several important financial decisions. CHICAGO GRAIN. ' CHICAGO, June 1. Corn prices' went up Willi a rush today. The chief' reason was that receipts were not1 nearly as large as had' been looked ! for. Besides, possibilities of further! railway labor difficulties acted as a' stimulus to buyers, who meanwhile! appealed to ignore any chance of bear-' isli effects from an increase of the' federal reserve discount rate. Opening Open-ing prices, which ranged from 14 c decline de-cline to 2c advance, weie followed by a sharp general upturn in values. Bullish crop reports gave independent indepen-dent strength to oats. After opening Vi to c higher, includir.s July at j 89 to S9'iC. the market continued to' descend. Decreases in the prices of cereals! weakened provision, Most cf tho 1 dealings were in lartl.
