Show INTJERCHURCH WORLD MOVEMENT OPENS TRI-COUNTY DRIVE HERE; DIRECTOR OUTLINES PURPOSES The conference of Weber, Morgan and Davis co'unties for tho interchurch world movement opened this morning in the First Baptist church of Ogden With a largo attendance. Delegates from various Protestant churches in these counties wore in attendance, and Dr. J. H". N. Williams, pastor of the First Methodist church of Salt Lako City, presided and spoke of the evangelistic evan-gelistic program of the interchurch world movement. Rev. Williams explained ex-plained tho movement of tho varioun evarigolical churches, and he described de-scribed in detail the program whicn the respective' evangelical denominations denomina-tions -are putting on throughout the United Stales at this time. Other speakers appearing on tna program today arc Rev. Clem Davlcs, pastor of the Waterloo Methodist church of Salt Lake City, who delivered deliv-ered tho composite department address, ad-dress, and stressed especially stewardship, steward-ship, life work, missionary education' and spiritual resources of the church ) Mrs. F. R. Payne spoke on world con-j dltions as related to Die intcrchurrh world movement. Rev, Chester a Snyder, pastor of the, First Christian church of Salt Lake City, presented the world survey. Dr. J. Sherman Wallace, pastor of the lmmanucl Hnp-tist Hnp-tist church of Salt Lake City, presented pre-sented the homo survey, which consented con-sented the home survey. In which material relating lo the various county coun-ty surveys throughout Utah. Garrison Speaks. State Director L. A. Garrison presented pre-sented an address upon the financial campaign. In pari, Dr. Garrison spoke as follows: "The church Is the greatest moral and religious force in tho world today. At the present time It is the steadying Influence, friendly alike to both labor and capital, and having as its authority author-ity in life and practice the Bible and achievements of worthy Christian men. "The Interest of the church is in seeing that every man adjusts himself to his environments and his God in such a way that his life is happy and Is worth while. The church has been an aggressive force to give woman her status such as she occupies in Christian Chris-tian lands alone, the hand maiden and impelling force for education, the do-fender do-fender of childhood and the one Institution Insti-tution thai refuses to recognize' race, creed or conditions of employment." Dr. Garrison also said that tho church liad been conducting its finances on the beggins: basis rather than the basis . of value that the church Is to tho community jind to the world. This field force is j backed by the ministers and the mem-I mem-I bers ot the churched of Utah. The amount of funds asked from Utah is about equal to the amounts furnished Utah from sources outside of the slate for one year. "Tho quolas for various counties, towns i.nd districts will be announced later, and If they seem large, let us remember that nothing less than this will meet tho requirements now confronting con-fronting the church, and that the entire" en-tire" movement Is a business mans proposition and his plan for ihe Christian Chris-tian church." This evening's session will be given over to an Illustrated lecture by Rev. W. L. Mcllinger, pastor of the Ogden Christian church. Rev.
